I am attending the London 2012 Olympics! I've never been to a sporting event like the Olympics... the closest thing was going to the 2005 NCAA Basketball Final Four in St. Louis, and that was only a 5 hour drive. This trip is going to involve planes, trains, and automobiles, getting around a completely foreign city, a different currency, a different culture, and hoping that I run into Colin Firth.
In the past year I've purchased my airfare, renewed my passport, purchased some event tickets with my friend Kate, and scheduled the time off from work. I feel like I have a million things to before the trip. This is my first trip abroad, and have ordered two books about London, and have been talking to my British co-workers on advice how to not look like a silly American (apparently white Nike's are a big no-no).
I am so excited that I am going to embark on the Olympic experience. There will be so many different cultures & people representing so many countries, and in such a wonderful city. I look forward to documenting my experiences on this blog. This is my first blog so I hope I am able to keep your interest despite my lack of rhetoric skills!
